Sang juara bertahan Ligue 1, Montpellier, ditaklukan oleh Lorient 1-2, di Stade Yves Allainmat - Le Moustoir (19/8) dini hari WIB. Kini Montpellier berada pada peringkat 13 di klasemen sementara, hasil dari 1 kali imbang dan 1 kali kalah.

Montpellier sempat unggul duluan pada menit ke-37 lewat gol Emanuel Herrera yang memanfaatkan assist John Utaka.

Sayang sekali Montpellier membiarkan kubu tuan rumah bangkit hingga akhirnya kalah akibat kebobolan di menit-menit terakhir. Alain Traore mencetak gol pada menit ke-92 dan disusul oleh Jeremy Aliadiere di menit ke-94. Dengan kemenangan itu, Lorient menempati posisi 3 di klasemen sementara.

Sedangkan hasil bagus didapatkan oleh Lyon beberapa jam sebelumnya. Lyon menggilas Troyes dengan skor 4-1, di Stade de Gerland, Lyon.

Sempat tertinggal oleh tamunya pada menit ke-47 lewat gol Jean-Christophe Bahebeck, Lyon langsung merespon dengan mencetak 4 gol beruntun di babak kedua.

Bafetimbi Gomis menyamakan kedudukan pada menit ke-51, disusul oleh Michel Bastos (65’), Lisandro Lopez (88’), dan ditutup lagi oleh Gomis di menit ke-91.

Hasil tersebut membuat Lyon sukses memuncaki klasemen sementara Ligue 1 dengan poin 6.
